    Latency tracks distance. Lightpath owns its metro routes and keeps building new fiber where others have stopped investing, so we can engineer the most direct on-net path between your sites, and build a shorter one when the route calls for it.

    We give you the measured round-trip latency on the actual route you will run. A fixed physical path produces a stable, repeatable latency profile, and you can verify it yourself.

The constraint isn’t the compute

AI workloads rarely live in one building. Training data and model checkpoints move between data centers, regions and clouds, and the network connecting them becomes the bottleneck.

Usually that network is leased or stitched together from several carriers. Capacity can’t grow as the workload grows, and performance varies route to route.

The route diversity you were sold is impossible to verify, because no single provider owns the path.

Owned, engineered routes in dense metros

  • We’ve built and operate more than 12,100 route miles across 11 metro markets: the New York metropolitan area, Long Island, New Jersey, Southern Connecticut, Boston, Eastern Pennsylvania, Ashburn, Miami, Columbus, Phoenix and Atlanta. That footprint includes 190+ on-net data centers and subsea landing stations and 17,500+ service locations. Where latency-sensitive work concentrates, in the New York metro area and into New Jersey, that density lets us engineer a short, direct path rather than detour around fiber we don’t have, and where a shorter route would help, we can build it.

Latency set at the physical layer

  • Dedicated Wavelengths from Lightpath ride Layer 1 optical transport, the layer where your traffic runs on a dedicated path and avoids the queuing and contention of a shared, packet-switched network. We hand off dedicated wavelengths up to 400 Gbps at the client interface on a network engineered for 800 Gbps and beyond on the line side, so capacity can grow without rerouting you onto a longer path.

Measured, not asserted

  • Before you commit, we show you the route map and the measured round-trip latency on the on-net path you will run. For sites reached over Type 2, we coordinate the carrier and scope any latency figure to the segment we measure. We don’t put a number on the segment we don’t own.
