Why the Network is the New Bottleneck
For years the network was the utility nobody re-examined: sized once and left alone while compute and storage got the attention.
Then data turned into a persistent, tier-1 workload. Training sets and model checkpoints move between data centers, regions and clouds, inference gets pushed out to the edge, and all of it collides with the backups and everything else already on the wire.
The network connecting those sites is now the constraint. Usually it is leased or stitched together from several carriers. Capacity can’t grow as the workload grows. Performance varies route to route. And the route diversity you were sold is impossible to verify, because no single provider owns the path.
Owned fiber changes that: one provider, dense in the markets where your infrastructure runs, with one team accountable for the routes you’re on and coordinating anything beyond them.

- We’ve built and operate more than 12,100 unique route miles across 11 metro markets: the New York metropolitan area, Long Island, New Jersey, Southern Connecticut, Boston, Eastern Pennsylvania, Ashburn, Miami, Columbus, Phoenix and Atlanta. That footprint includes 190+ on-net data centers and subsea landing stations and direct presence in the interconnect facilities your traffic routes through. Where your sites extend beyond it, we deliver over Type 1 & 2 and coordinate with the carrier so you keep one point of contact.
Built ahead of the market
- In the Columbus data-center market we’re building a new high-fiber-count, fully underground network, fiber that wasn’t there before. That is how we reach a data center or AI campus that sits beyond our existing routes.
Capacity at the right layer
- We hand off dedicated wavelengths up to 400 Gbps at the client interface, on a network engineered for 800 Gbps and above on the line side. Per fiber pair and conduit, the ceiling climbs well past that as your volumes grow. Eight subsea cable landing stations extend the reach offshore.
Wave or Ethernet, your call
- When you want a pinned, predictable path, dedicated Wavelengths hold the same physical route every time. When you would rather add a site as a node on the Ethernet network you already run, Ethernet self-heals across our footprint, point-to-point or any-to-any, at lower cost, trading a little latency for reach and resilience.
Engineers who own your routes
- When you’re on our network, you reach the engineers who design and operate it directly. No offshore tiers, no ticket queues. We keep investing in route density across the markets we serve.
Working with partners in the AI and cloud space
Lightpath is the transport that carries your traffic to the partner’s on-ramp. It rides to the cloud; it doesn’t replace the cloud provider’s product. Cloud Connect delivers private paths to:

You get one Lightpath contract and one escalation path for the segment we deliver, instead of a separate last-mile vendor for every path.

What we do best with partners: we own the fiber beneath the on-ramp, so the segment you hand us has a single owner.
